If we want games to look like movies, we can’t do that with shaders. Movies don’t use shaders, they use ray tracing. Shaders are getting to the point where they have outlived their usefulness. If we want games to continue to look more realistic, we have to find a new way to do rendering. That new way is going to ray tracing.
