In this talk, Andrés discusses his recently published book "Genes Vs Cultures Vs Consciousness: A Brief Story of Our Computational Minds", which explores the development of intelligence and takes us on a marvelous journey from non-life to super-intelligence along a revision of the systems that interacted to define it.

Andrés Campero is a Mexican artificial intelligence researcher currently getting his PhD at the MIT Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. His work focuses on understanding the computational nature of the mind and the interaction of symbolic probabilistic reasoning and sub-symbolic statistical learning in the attempt to understand and replicate higher level cognition in artificial intelligence. He is a prominent supporter of the artificial intelligence community in Mexico and Latin America and is the organizer of RIIAA, the first International Meeting on Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in Mexico.
