What holds you back from working out? OK, besides the thing with the sweating and the burning lunges and cramping and the next day’s soreness. It’s time, right. Time is the enemy.
But it doesn’t have to be. Think of time as being on a scale with intensity. The less time you have, the more intensity you’ll have to give. So don’t let being short on time force to skip a day. In fact, we argue that being on a tight schedule is the best time to crush a workout. You’re even more inclined to get focused, hit it hard, and move on with your day.
That’s what Reebok trainer Kenny Santucci shows in the latest installment of AskMen’s series You’re Doing It Wrong. In this video Santucci, along with a chiseled and shirtless Jared Prudoff-Smith crush through a kettlebell burner that hits all the major muscle groups and jacks up your heart rate at the same time. You know that means? Building muscle, burning fat and increasing muscle endurance all at once.
The workout demonstrated in the video is all “go.” The idea is to go fast, so there won’t be a lot of thinking involved. The only number you need to remember is five. All you need is a pair of kettlebells. (Need a good kettlebell? Here’s The Best Ones You Can Buy For Your Home Gym).
If you don’t have a kettlebell, or your gym inexplicably doesn’t have two that are the same weight, just swap the KB’s for dumbbells.
An important note: The presses will most likely be your limiter here. Choose a challenging weight that allows you to get through an entire round unbroken, which means pick a weight that you’ll be able to press five times each round without dropping it.
