This week on Microsoft Unboxed, we’re taking an inside look at the Microsoft Hackathon. Sonia and Colleen head into the Hackathon tent at our Redmond campus to check out all of the hacks – from money saving AI technology to autonomous robot interactions. Colleen and Sonia speak with Microsoft employees about the superpowers they bring to the Hackathon, and how the experience allows them to experiment outside of their typical 9 to 5 roles. They also reconnect with last week’s guest, expert hacker and co-founder of Major League Hacking, Jonathan Gottfried, to talk through his experience at the Hackathon. Then, Sonia and Colleen head to the Inclusive Tech Lab to speak with Bryce Johnson, the inclusive design lead for Microsoft devices, about the Xbox Adaptive Controller and his "Controllerthon" hack project. The Inclusive Tech Lab was built as a place for people with disabilities to interact with Microsoft and explain their needs – and during Controllerthon, the Inclusive Tech Lab is the hub where our hackers learn about our customers' needs so they can design with the community, not for the community. Then, Colleen chats with the Grant family about their hacking experience and using the Xbox Adaptive Controller.

Microsoft Unboxed is a weekly YouTube series from Microsoft, hosted by Sonia Dara and Colleen O’Brien. We’ll look at Microsoft’s latest technology, and the people and stories behind the tech. Tune in every Thursday at 9AM PT for new episodes.
