Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) was running Microsoft Teams alongside Skype for Business when the COVID-19 crisis struck. Capacity issues prompted the company to accelerate its move to Teams Only mode. Within three weeks, more than 40,000 employees were using Teams for calling, conferencing, chat, and collaboration—a full five months ahead of schedule. Teams enabled TMNA to better support its remote workers while delivering superior performance, with Rate My Call (RMC) scores jumping from 4.1 with Skype for Business to a consistent range of 4.8–4.9 with Teams.
