Honda has finally unveiled the all-new City in Thailand, and along with it, the subcompact sedan’s new turbo-powered engine.

Earlier this month, the Japanese car manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle would pack a turbo, but now we finally have more details. The new City comes with a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine capable of 120hp and 173Nm of torque. This will come mated to a CVT, and Honda is also claiming the new mill will be 33% more efficient than its predecessor.
Styling-wise, the fifth-generation model carries a look that’s akin to the rest of Honda’s current lineup. The front end of the vehicle has gained a much bolder appearance, thanks to larger swept-back headlamps with daytime running lights, a more defined lower fascia, and a new grille featuring a mesh design and large black crossbar. The sedan is also available in a more energetic-looking RS variant.
Strong character lines on the sides right below the beltline and blacked-out side mirror housings also help lend the all-new City a sportier vibe compared to its predecessor. The position of the mirrors has been moved to provide drivers with better visibility, and the sedan is now 113mm longer and 53mm wider than before. It is 10mm shorter than its predecessor, too, and it runs on either 15- or 16-inch alloys.
Inside, there’s more space and a relatively sporty-looking interior available with a Honda Connect touchscreen infotainment system. The dashboard design is straightforward, the choice of colors and materials is somewhat stealthy, and buyers get to choose between leather or fabric seats. Overall, this looks like a pretty nice cabin to be stuck in traffic in.
