This week on Microsoft Unboxed, it’s all about history – and how Microsoft is helping to preserve and recreate it. To kick things off, Sonia shares about Microsoft’s latest pillar of the AI for Good initiative called AI for Cultural Heritage. As technology advances, Microsoft is looking to preserve the celebration of people, sites, historical artifacts and languages.

Sonia focuses on the language pillar, as one third of the world’s languages have fewer than 1,000 speakers, and touches on two of the languages Microsoft is actively using AI to preserve. Then, Colleen shares about how Microsoft partnered with Adam Savage to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the moon landing. The partnership, called Project Egress, tasked 40 Microsoft team members at the Advanced Prototyping Center to recreate a life-size version of the hatch door from the Apollo 11. The model is going to be on display at the Smithsonian Museum.
