Canon 77D Review. Canon 77D & Canon 800D Release Date.
Hey whats up everyone, my names Chris Winter and I’m going to do a quick preview of the successor to the Canon t6i and t6s, called the Canon 77D. ‘
By the way, if you haven’t seen it yet, desfinitely make sure to check out my brand new list, the Top best Cameras for under $1000. That list is in the description box below.
But anyway here’s what we know about the 77d.
Name:
So in 2015 Canon released two cameras, the Canon T6i and the T6s.
If you were outside of America, these were called the 750d and the 760d.
This time around the cameras are going to be called the Canon 77D, the T7i and the 800D.
You know I really wish Canon would simplify their naming structures, but oh well.
Sensor:
So the Canon 77D (T7i, 800D) looks like it’s going to be using a 24.2 megapixel sensor.
It’ll also have 45 AF points as well.
Now this is nothing special, but for the majority of users, especially beginner users, this is going to be more than enough.
Dual Pixel AF:
Now next up we’ve got something pretty important, and that’s the inclusion of Dual Pixel Autofocus in video mode in the Canon 77D (T7i, 800D).
Now if you’ve watched any of my videos over the last few years, you’ll know just how good Dual Pixel Autofocus is in cameras such as the 70d and the 80d.
It allows you to smoothly and cinematically pull focus either using the touch screen on the back or by using a mode such as face tracking mode.
For example I’m actually use it now and you can see that it works great, in fact I’ve used it for all of my videos for the last 2 years.
So last years t6i and t6s has something called Hybrid Autofocus and while it was definitely and improvement over the t5i models, it wasn’t on par with it’s bigger brothers.
So to me this is the biggest inclusion in this camera and it’s something to genuinely be excited about.
Burst Mode:
One unexpected little bonus in the 77D (T7i, 800D) is a bump up to 6 frames per second from 5.
Now this isn’t going to be a huge deal, but it if you’re into taking sports and wildlife photography, you’ll appreciate the difference.
Video
So one thing again that we are missing out on with the Canon 77D (T7i, 800D) new camera is 4k video.
To be honest I didn’t expect it and although I’m slightly dissapointed, for most people it’s not going to be a big loss.
Sure there are a lot of good cameras out there shooting in 4k, such as the G7, G85 or the A6500, but for I’d actually trade the 4k that they have for the brilliant autofocus in video.
It looks like we’re also getting 5 axis electronic image stabilization as well, which could be good, but that’s something that I’d want test out properly once I get my hands on it.
Either way guys I’m actually really excited about this Canon 77D (T7i, 800D) camera and so should you. I’ll definitely be looking to buy a couple to do some reviews on very soon.
If you enjoyed this video I’d love it if you could leave a thumbs up and guys also definitely make sure to check out my top 10 list of the best Cameras for under $1000.
Have a great day!
