800D vs 77D
Hey whats up everyone, my names Chris Winter and in this video, I’m going to go through some of the differences between the Canon T7i and the Canon 77D so hopefully i can help you decide which one will be best for you.

Top LCD
So I want to start off this comparison by first taking a look at one of the most noticeable differences between these two cameras.
And thats here at the top of the cameras.
You’ll notice that on the 77D we have a top LCD Screen, whereas its absent on the T7i.
Now if you’re new to photography, you might be asking whats this used for?
Well essentially this displays some of your main current settings at the top of your Body.
So rather than having to look at teh back LCD or looking through the viewfinder, you can qucikly see and adjust your settings such as your Aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
You can also see how much battery you’ve got remaining and other little settings such as if you’re wifi is connected.
Now Top LCDs are normally found in higher end DSLR’s like the 5D, 7D or 80D cameras, so its definitely a nice feature to have on the 77D.
Build Quality
Let’s now talk about the build quality of both of htese camras.
Now if youve never used a DSLR before, when you first pick them up you might feel like they’re quite heavy.
But actualyl both of these camera bodies are quite compared to larger cameras like the 5D or 7D.
Comparing these two cameras though, the 77D does feel noticeably larger.
To some people that might be a good or a bad thing.
To me the 77D feels more similar to a camera like the 70D or 80D. It’s got a little bit more heft to it and does feel like a bit more of pro camera.
On the other hand, the T7i is smaller and feels more like a Rebel series camera like the t6i or t5i.
It definitely doesn’t feel like a toy though and i do feel like the T7i would stand up to a lot at what you throw at it.
So which one is better for you.
If you want a really solid camera, that will work well with larger lenses, the 77D will be better for you.
but if you want a camera thats going to be good for travel or to fit in your bag, the T7i will be the option to go for.
Rear Dial
So let’s turn the cameras around and take a look at the back here.
Another difference you’ll notice is that the 77D has a thumb dial where as the T7i just has 4 buttons.
I really like using this dial as it allows me to quickly change settings without having to press any other buttons.
For example, I can quickly adjust my aperture by rotating this dial and change my shutter speed by using the front dial here.
Is it a huge difference? Well not really, but if you are used to the dial, you’ll definiftely appreciate having it on the back here.
Back Button AF
This is a back button Autofocus button and its something I use every day.
Now most people when starting out use the shutter button to focus, but on the 77D you can actually use this button here to focus instead.
Mode Dial Lock
To be honest I dont think Ive ever accidentaly bumped it, so on its not someting that I’d really worry about not having on the T7i.
Price & Value
So let’s now talk about something thats important to me and I’m sure is to you as well and thats value for money.
The T7i retails for $750 for the body alone, where as the 77D retails for $900.
That might not seem like much of a difference but to a lot of people that $150 could be a lot.
So is it worth it getting the 77D? Well as you can tell after watching this video, the 77D defintiely does have a lot more features.
It’s a great camera and is actualyl very similar to its bigger brothes the 70D and 80D.
On the other hand the T7i is also a brillaint camera and will take photos that are pretty much exactly the same quality as the 77D.
it’s mainly just the useability feautres on teh 77D that make it really stand out.
I think both cameras would be great for most people. If you’ve got teh money go for the 77d, it’s easier to use, but on the other hand you could always get the Canon T7i and put the Extra $150 towards a nice lens like the Canon 50mm 1.8 STM.
Eitehr way I’d highly recommend either one of these camras, I think you’ll be happy with them.
